Alistair Whyte

Partner-Head of Property Department
Alistair qualified as a solicitor in 1985 and became a partner of Coodes in 1991.  He specialises in commercial property with an emphasis on Business Transfers and Residential transactions.  Alistair is also responsible for managing the Firm’s extensive Property Department.

Chris Darbyshire

Property Executive – Residential and Commercial Property
Chris joined Coodes in 1996 and works in the Property Department. He has extensive experience in dealing with the sale and purchase of residential properties at all levels. Chris also deals with commercial and development property. 

Jill Gardiner

Licensed Conveyancer – Residential Property
Jill qualified as a Licensed Conveyancer in 2000 having trained with the firm, and having previously had extensive experience with her Father’s firm – ACC Specialist Property Lawyers, with whom Coodes merged in 1999. Jill has extensive experience in dealing with property transactions in the residential sector and enjoys an excellent relationship with the local estate agents.

Nancy Gasser

Property Executive – Residential Property
Nancy started  working for Coodes in 1996 and subsequently commenced her training as a Licensed Conveyancer. Her expertise is particularly in dealing with residential property – sales, purchases and remortgages. Nancy also deals with tenancy agreements for Landlords in the residential sector.

Wendy Anear

Property Executive – Residential Property
Wendy joined Coodes in 2006, having had many years of experience in the Residential Property Departments of other firms. Her expertise is in particular dealing with residential property sales, purchases and re-mortgages.

Jane Stewart

Property Executive – Residential Property
Jane joined Coodes in 2006, having had many years of experience in the Residential Property Departments of other firms. Her expertise is in particular dealing with residential property sales, purchases and re-mortgages.

Lesley Kendall

Legal Executive – Property Department
Lesley qualified as a Legal Executive in 1985 and joined Coodes in 2000. Her work is principally with Residential Property and in the sale and purchase of small businesses, including hotels and guest houses.

Liz Moon

Trainee Legal Executive – Residential Property
Liz has been working in the legal profession since 1985 and joined Coodes in 1988. With the support of Coodes Liz is training to become a Legal Executive. Her work is with Residential Property – sales, purchases and remortgages.

Karen Pearce

Trainee Legal Executive – Residential Property
Karen joined Coodes in 2000, and is training to become a Legal Executive with the support of the firm.  Her work is with Residential Property - sales, purchases and re-mortgages

Kate Williams

Trainee Legal Executive – Residential Property
Kate joined Coodes in 2003 to train as a Legal Executive. She assists in the Property and Private Client Departments, working alongside Partner Pam Johns.

Lisa Robinson

Associate – Commercial and Residential Property
Lisa qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and joined Coodes in  2002 as part of the Property team.  She is experienced in all aspects of property work including Business Transfers, sale and purchase of shops, offices, licensed and industrial premises

Sue Glencross

Legal Executive – Commercial and Residential Property, Private Client
Sue qualified as a Legal Executive in 1975 and joined Coodes in 1994. Sue represents the interests of many local individuals and businesses, dealing with their property and business transactions as well as the preparation of wills. She also has an expertise in dealing with the affairs of the elderly.

Michelle Hawkins

Licensed Conveyancer – Residential Property
Michelle qualified as a Licensed Conveyancer in 2002 and joined Coodes in 2004. She has worked in the legal profession since 1994 both in England and the USA. Since beginning her training as a Licensed Conveyancer Michelle has concentrated mainly on residential property.

Andrea Clemo

Property Executive – Residential Property
Andrea joined Coodes in 2006 from another local firm. Her work is with Residential Property - sales, purchases and remortgages.



Family

 

Elise Alma

Partner – Head of Family Department
Elise qualified as a solicitors in 1987.  She joined Coodes immediately following her qualification and has always specialised in family work.  Elise is a member of the Law Society’s Family Panel and is an accredited member of Resolution (formerly the Solicitors’ Family Law Association).  Elise specialises in financial dispute resolution and children cases.

Karen Pritchard

Legal Executive – Family Law
Karen qualified as a Legal Executive in 1995 and joined Coodes in 2000. She works within the Family Department dealing particularly with the financial aspects of family breakdown, domestic violence and children issues.

Justine Thomas

Legal Executive – Family Law
Justine qualified as a Legal Executive in March 2006 and joined Coodes in 2006. She works within the Family Department, dealing particuarly with the financial aspects of relationship breakdown, domestic violence and children issues.

Jackie Rudge

Partner – Family Law
Jackie trained as a solicitor with Coodes and qualified in 1991.  She was appointed as a partner in 2004.  Jackie is a member of the Law Society’s Family Panel and is an accredited member of Resolution (formerly  the Solicitor’s Family law Association).  Jackie specialises in financial dispute resolution and children cases.

Heather Stokes

Partner – Family Law
Heather qualified as a solicitor in 1977.  Previously  running her own practice, she merged the firm with Coodes and became a partner in 1998.  Heather’s specialises in family work, especially financial dispute resolution and children cases.  She also has an interest in Human Rights work.  Heather is a member of the Law Society’s Family Panel.

Ian Taylor

Partner – Family Law
Ian qualified as a solicitor in 1991 and joined Coodes as a partner in 1999.  He is a member of the Law Society’s Children and Family Law Panel and an accredited member of Resolution (formerly the Solicitor’s Family Law Association).  Ian specialises in child care work and financial dispute resolution.  He is the Chairman of the Cornwall Family Law Association.

Julian Tyson

Associate – Family Law
Julian qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and joined Coodes in 2004. He works principally as a Child Care and Mental Health specialist as well as with the usual aspects of family breakdown. Julian is a member of the Law Society Panels for Family, Child Care and Mental Health work.

Amanda Lyons

Assistant Solicitor – Family Law
Amanda qualified as a solicitor in 2005 and joined Coodes in 2006. She works within the Family Department dealing particularly with the financial aspects of relationship breakdown, domestic violence and children issues, including care work.

Derek Jordan

Assistant Solicitor – Family Law
Derek qualified as a solicitor in 1996 and joined Coodes in 2005. He works within the Family Department dealing particuarly with financial aspects of family breakdown, domestic violence and children issues.

Lowenna Roberts

Trainee Legal Executive – Family Law
Lowenna is training as a Legal Executive with the firm. Her work within the Department includes all aspects of divorce, separation including the financial aspects of family breakdown, domestic violence and children issues.


Business Services

 

Jonathan Wilde

Assistant Solicitor - Head of Business Services  
Jonathan qualified in 2000 and joined Coodes in 2007. He has a City of London background and had his own practice in Hungary. He has experience of advising from start ups through to international companies on a full range of partnership, corporate, finance, general business contracts, e-commerce and intellectual property issues.

Peter Dexter

Consultant – Business
Peter qualified as a solicitor in 1969.  He moved to Coodes and became a partner in 1999.  Peter’s work is largely with the commercial needs of small to medium sized local businesses as well as representing the interest of a number of national and international companies, local charities, institutions and local authorities.



Commercial Property

 

Pam Johns

Partner – Commercial and Private Client 
Pam qualified as a solicitor in 1994 having previously worked in the legal profession since 1980.  Pam became a partner of Coodes in 1999, initially working in the firm’s Launceston Office, but moving in 1998 to set up the Holsworthy Office of Coodes.  She specialises in agricultural and commercial Property work and is a member of the Agricultural Law Association

Kate Theophilus

Partner – Commercial Property
Kate qualified  as a solicitor in 1986 and joined Coodes in 2001.  She was appointed as a partner in 2004.  Kate’s work in the Commercial Property Department is mainly with property development, business transfers, commercial leases and agricultural land sales.  Kate is a member of the Agricultural Law Association.

Allison Bunney

Partner – Commercial Property
Allison trained as a Solicitor with Coodes and qualified in 2000.  Her work now is with commercial property, particularly Landlord and  Tenant, Property Development and Business Transfers.

Sue Glencross

Sue qualified as a Legal Executive in 1975 and joined Coodes in 1994. Lisa Robinson

Associate – Commercial and Residential Property
Lisa qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and joined Coodes in  2002 as part of the Property team.  She is experienced in all aspects of property work including Business Transfers, sale and purchase of shops, offices, licensed and industrial premises 

Christian Wilson

Partner – Commercial Property
Christian qualified as a solicitor in May 2004, having undertaken his training with Coodes. He specialises in Commercial Property and is developing the department in the firm’s Penzance office. Christian is particularly interested in Business Transfers and in advising the Business sector generally

Kevin George

Partner – Commercial and Residential Property
Kevin qualified in 1991 and joined Coodes in 2004. He specialises in all aspects of commercial and residential property, dealing particularly with Business Transfers, Commercial Leases and Agricultural Property.

Richard Jones

Associate – Commercial Property
Richard qualified as a Solicitor in 1971 and joined Coodes in 2007. Richard's work is principally in Commercial and Agricultural Property having gained that experience over many years.

Nick Foote

Assistant Solicitor – Commercial Property
Nick qualified as a Solicitor in 2008 having completed his training with Coodes. Prior to that Nick worked for some years in the Commercial Property Department of a firm in Exeter. His work is now with commercial property particuarly Landlord and Tenant, property development and business transfers.

Colin Hunter

Partner – Head of Litigation
Colin qualified as a solicitor in 1992, and moved to Cornwall in 1992, moving to Coodes in 2000.  He manages the Dispute Resolution Department and specialises himself in Commercial and Property disputes and in contentious probate actions.

Peter Lamble

Partner – Dispute Resolution
Peter has been a Partner with Coodes since joining in 2002. He trained and qualified in London before relocating to Cornwall. His work is principally Commercial Dispute Resolution and he heads our Employment Contract Unit. He has wide ranging experience in disputes relating to commercial property, intellectual property, contract, tort and employment. He has acted for many global, national and local businesses and organisations.

Sukhi Lota

Assistant Solicitor - Litigation
Sukhi qualified as a solicitor in 2000 and joined Coodes in 2006. Her main areas of work are in property, litigation, contract disputes, contested wills, professional negligence, commercial and residential landlord and tenant disputes, housing, homelessness and insolvency.

Emma Griffin

Assistant Solicitor - Litigation
Emma qualified as a solicitor in 2001 and joined Coodes in 2006. Her main areas of work are in disputed Wills and Trusts.

Andrew Marshall

Partner - Litigation
Andrew qualified as a solicitor in 1989 and joined Coodes as an Associate in May 2007 having had extensive experience in civil litigation in commercial firms in the Midlands. His expertise is particularly in dealing with property and professional negligence litigation.

Joe Bashford

Solicitor - Litigation
Joe qualified as a Solicitor in 2007 having completed his training with Coodes. His work is now in the Dispute Resolution Department principally with commercial and propety disputes.



Employment

 

Peter Lamble

Partner – Litigation
Peter qualified as a solicitor in 1992, having worked previously in the legal profession since 1978.  He joined Coodes as a partner in 2002.  Peter’s work is principally with commercial and property disputes and contentious employment work.  In this context he has worked for major local and national companies and organisations. 

Rachel Meeks

Assistant Solicitor – Dispute Resolution
Rachel trained as a Solicitor with Coodes and qualified in September 2004. She is now part of the Dispute Resolution team, working particularly with partner Peter Lamble. Rachel’s particular interest is in Employment Law.



Private Client

 

David James

Partner - Head of Department 
David qualified as a solicitor in 1974 and joined Coodes as a Partner in 2001.  He represents a wide range of private individuals including farmers, landowners, businessmen along with trustees and charities.  His main area of practice is with the protection of assets and tax planning.  David is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and the Agricultural Law Association.

Jonathan Eade

Probate Executive and Associate – Private Client Department
Jonathan joined Coodes in 1983, having had a background in accountancy. He has an expertise in wills, winding up of complex estates and Inheritance tax planning. Jonathan leads the well respected Private Client team in St Austell and takes an active interest in the management of the department generally.

Helen Keeping

Trust Executive – Private Client Department
Helen deals with the Trust administration section of the Private Client Department. She deals with all aspects of trust administration and elderly client issues.

Helen Downing

Assistant Solicitor – Private Client Department
Helen qualified as a solicitor in 1999, having originally worked in Financial Institutions in the City. She currently works in the Private Client Department, concentrating on asset management, tax planning and creation of trusts.

Richard Pollock

Partner – Private Client Department
Richard qualified as a solicitor in 1995 and joined Coodes in 2005 having worked for a number of major firms in their Private Client Departments. He represents a wide range of private individuals including farmers, land owners, businessmen along with Trustees and Charities. His main area of practice is with the protection of assets and tax planning. Richard also has an expertise in advising in the setting up and administration of charities.

Louise Southwell

Associate – Private Client Department
Louise qualified as a solicitor in 1999 and joined Coodes in 2006. She deals with all aspects of Private Client work including preparation of wills, tax planning, winding up of estates of deceased people and elderly client issues

Linda Timms

Executive – Private Client
Linda acts as an assistant in the firm’s well respected Private Client Department. She has extensive experience in preparing wills and in winding up the estates of deceased persons. Linda also has excellent experience in looking after the interests of the elderly.

Rebecca Standing

Probate Executive – Private Client Department
Rebecca acts as an assistant in the firm’s well respected Private Client Department. She has extensive experience in preparing wills and in winding up the estates of deceased persons. Rebecca also has excellent experience in looking after the interests of the elderly.

Gemma Cleave

Assistant Solicitor – Private Client Department
Gemma qualified as a solicitor in 2002 and joined Coodes in 2004. She deals with all aspects of Private Client work including preparation of wills, tax planning, winding up of estates of deceased people and with elderly client issues.

Stephen Cole

Assistant Solicitor – Private Client Department
Stephen trained as a solicitor with Coodes and qualified in October 2006. He is now part of the Private Client Department working particuarly with David James and Richard Pollock. His work consists of preparation of Wills, Administration of Estates, EPAs and he has a particular interest in asset protection and tax planning.

Sarah Cornish

Assistant Solicitor – Private Client Department
Sarah trained as a Solicitor with a local firm and moved to Coodes in 2008. She deals with all aspects of Private Client work including preparation of Wills, tax planning, winding up of estates of deceased people and with elderly client issues. She also works alongside David James and Richard Pollock in trusts and tax planning work.



Criminal

 

Mike Gregson

Senior Partner – Head of Criminal Department
Mike qualified as a solicitor in 1980 and became a Partner of the firm in 1986.  He is a very experienced and successful advocate, and has Higher Audience Rights for criminal matters.

Stephanie Allen

Criminal Executive – Criminal Department
Stephanie has been with Coodes since February 2003.   Her role within the criminal department is attending clients and advising them at Police Stations and preparing client files for the firm’s advocates in the Magistrates’ and Crown Courts.

Christopher Andrews

Partner – Criminal Litigation
Chris trained as a solicitor with Coodes and qualified in 1996.  He became a partner of the firm in 1999 and now leads the firm’s Criminal Litigation Department in East Cornwall.  He represents clients at all levels and is a member of the local Duty Solicitor Committees for Caradon and North Cornwall.

Lucy Bryant

Partner – Criminal Department
Lucy qualified as a solicitor in 1998 and joined Coodes in 2001  .  Working out of Newquay Office, Lucy is one of the advocates in the firm’s well respected criminal defence team.

Hugh Davies

Criminal Executive – Criminal Department
Hugh has been with Coodes since 2003.  His role within the Criminal Department is in attending clients and advising them at Police Stations and preparing client files for Counsel in the Crown Court.

Bob Beard

Litigation Executive – Personal Injury Department
Bob started work in the legal profession in 1977 and joined Coodes in 1984. In 2002 he set up the dedicated Personal Injury division of the Civil Litigation Department. Bob specialises in all aspects of Personal Injury law and Clinical Negligence. Bob is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.

Debra Bailey

Litigation Executive – Personal Injury Department
Debbie has been with Coodes since 2000 and with their assistance qualified as a Member of the Institute of Legal Executives. She specialises in all aspects of Personal Injury law and Clinical Negligence.
